2007 Highlights: Your Donations in Action
The following is a sampling of the services provided in Listen's 2007 fiscal year. Although we rely heavily on the revenues generated from our Thrift Stores sales, it is this community's generous contributions that are responsible for our success.
Food Pantry Renovation:
The Listen Food Pantry was completely renovated thanks to the generosity and efforts of HOME Partners, New England Kitchen Depot, Central Supply, and the Paint and Paper Barn as well as community volunteers.
1,022 household visits equaling 37,212 meals
Listen serves Community Dinners five nights a week:
The United Methodist Church of Lebanon now houses Listen's Community Dinners every Friday night.
Listen served 13,333 meals (33% increase from FY 2006)
Heating and housing assistance service numbers continue to climb:
Listen provides emergency fuel assistance through the Heating Helpers Program, a no interest Housing Helper loan to those facing the threat of homelessness, and Supportive Housing Services for those in transition.
Heating Helpers: 159 households received grants totaling$45,485
Housing Helpers: 121 households equaling $15,132 (10% increase from FY 2006)
Supportive Housing: 26 households
The need does not just go away:
Listen is committed to supporting individuals and families as they achieve and maintain successful independence. Our Community Service Programs help families create and follow realistic budgets, allow children to experience the benefits of summer camp, and facilitate healthy connections between children and adults.
Financial Management: 200 households
Camp Scholarships: 304 registered, totaling $48,000
Youth Mentoring: 54 matches
Thrift Store revenues provide 78% of agency income:
Listen Thrift Stores offer the public quality products at affordable prices. Proceeds from the three stores provide funding for Listen's Community Services and Programs. And even though Smart Shoppers Shop Listen, the Thrift Stores also provide a service. Community Service Counselors issue vouchers for "need" items such as winter coats, children's clothing and basic household items.
Thrift Store Vouchers: 293 households received in store coupons totaling $15,795
